When Tim ran for the State Senate, he did so on a platform of changing Albany.

And that’s what he did – delivering progressive wins in a chamber stagnated by the status quo and bringing major funding back to Western New York, a region that sorely needed it. Now he’s running for Congress to change the way Washington does business, to focus on the people who send him there and deliver for Western New York.

Protecting Workers and Creating Jobs

Senator Kennedy has always stood up for working families. In Albany, he passed laws to stop outsourcing jobs, promote American-made products, and empower striking workers. As a Congressman, he will stand up for workers by supporting legislation to stop union-busting and fight efforts by extreme Republicans to roll back labor protections.

Standing Up For Abortion Rights

The Supreme Court’s dangerous Dobbs decision overturning Roe v. Wade is having negative ramifications across the country. States are criminalizing reproductive healthcare, including the ability for some to receive in vitro fertilization (IVF). In Albany, Senator Kennedy voted to enshrine abortion rights in state law and women’s equality in the New York State Constitution. As a Congressman, he will fight against a national abortion ban and work to codify Roe v. Wade in federal law.

Keeping Our Communities Safe

After the racist terrorist shooting in Buffalo on May 14, 2022, that took 10 lives and injured 3 innocent people, Senator Kennedy passed the strongest and most comprehensive gun safety laws in the nation. He will take that fight to Washington by working to reinstate the federal assault weapons ban and take illegal guns off our streets.

Making Health Care a Right

Senator Kennedy comes from a healthcare background, working with children and seniors as an Occupational Therapist. He believes that healthcare is a right – not a privilege for the wealthy. In Congress, he will fight against rollbacks to the Affordable Care Act, protect and expand Medicare, and work to make prescription drugs more affordable.

Saving Our Democracy

The insurrection on January 6, 2021, showed how fragile our democracy can be. Senator Kennedy has worked to expand voting rights and election reforms in the State Senate and will continue to make protecting our democracy a priority in Congress. He will support the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and fight against extremist attempts to undermine our elections through voter disenfranchisement and misinformation. He will also fight to defend democracy and democratic values abroad, including supporting our allies in Ukraine and across the globe.
